If you’d never considered coven nails before, you might be more on board now. That’s because, word has it, when the world around us is looking pretty bleak (see: recession forecasts) we tend to turn to the the supernatural and all things occult for a little escapism.
It may be why burning sage or charging crystals is looking a lot less woo-woo – it’s worth a go, right? Or perhaps its why #witchtok has provided a safe haven (ahem, coven) for literally billions of users on TikTok. It’s probably also why the grunge and goth girl aesthetic continues to take off, because if you don’t have the funds to be “that girl” you can be “alt dark witch girl” all for the price of a kohl liner, and feel like you’re raging against the machine while doing it.
Even if you’re not normally a witchy girl, October can leave us feeling extra mystical and brewing to tap into moodier vibe. Whatever the case, it seems that being able to stare at teensy wiccan symbols on top of our fingernails is the mini daily distraction we’re craving because we’ve started noticing coven nails everywhere. They’ve been manifested in multiple different ways, too. Alongside stars, moons, chains, pentagons and celestial skyscapes, we’ve seen schism nails, eclipse nails, ombre black nails and mist-effect manis all feeding into the trend. So, whether you want to make your witchy intensions known, or keep it a little more mysterious, there’s a design for you.
If you like the sentiment but you’re more of a minimalist, two-tone aura nails may be more your wavelength, or you could always just opt for the top-trending Halloween nail shades for 2026, which include – you guessed it – black and blood red. Both extremely witchy, both extremely chic.
