Troye Sivan is opening up about the very NSFW meaning behind his new song “Canada Dry”!
The 31-year-old singer released his fourth studio album, She’s the Best, on Friday (October 9), and the second track is all about his attraction to a handsome Canadian man.
Troye actually explained what inspired the song before the album was released, and he didn’t hold back with his description.

What is Troye Sivan’s “Canada Dry” about?
In an October 1 post on X, Troye described the track as “oogey gooey slinky back arch pop about a handsome Canadian i want to suck dry LOL.”
The song’s title is a reference to the popular ginger ale brand, but Troye gives it a very different meaning.
In the chorus, he sings, “I wanna sip your body ’til it’s Canada Dry.”
The lyrics describe a hot summer night and his desire to get physically close to another man. He sings about the man’s body, the heat and wanting to spend the night together.
The song was co-written by Troye, Leland, Styalz Fuego, Tyde Levi and Rob LFO, according to the credits on Genius.

Who is the Canadian man Troye Sivan is singing about?
Troye hasn’t publicly identified the man who inspired “Canada Dry,” but fans have already shared some theories.
Some fans have suggested Canadian singer Shawn Mendes, while others have brought up Hudson Williams, who plays Shane Hollander in the hit series Heated Rivalry. The latter theory has an additional connection, as Canada Dry is Shane’s favorite drink in the story.
However, there’s no confirmation that either star inspired the song, and these are largely just lighthearted fan guesses on social media.
“Canada Dry” appears on She’s the Best, which is available now.
