Shane Gillis had a big “oops” moment during Saturday Night Live on Saturday (October 10).

The 38-year-old comedian and actor is hosting the late-night sketch series for the third time.

During the episode, while taking a part in a “Green Eggs and Ham” inspired sketch, Shane accidentally cursed live on TV, immediately catching himself and breaking character.

In the sketch, Shane played the Guy Am I’s (Mikey Day) defensive son, who comes in after Sam I Am (Andrew Dismukes) pressures his dad to eat green eggs and ham.

“Hey, what the hell is wrong with you? My dad said he doesn’t like green eggs and ham, drop it. Walk away,” Shane says.

“But he may like green eggs and ham,” Andrew responds.

“Bro, it’s a non-starter. He told me, he said he doesn’t f***ing -” Shane continued, catching his error. “Jeez! Like ’em.”

As the audience laughed, Shane turned to the crowd and waved before moving on with the sketch.

At the end of the show, during his closing remarks, Shane apologized for his mishap.

“Sorry about earlier,” he quipped.

What happens if you curse on SNL?

It’s unlikely that SNL will face any disciplinary action from the FCC due to the late-night time slot the show airs during.

Per KCRA, FCC guidelines state, “Broadcasting obscene content is prohibited by law at all times of the day. Indecent and profane content are prohibited on broadcast TV and radio between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. when there is a reasonable risk that children may be in the audience.”

As for Shane, being the host, he may face a talk from SNL creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels, as well as NBC’s Standards and Practices department.

Last year, an audience member shouted out a curse word during Weekend Update.

Did you know Shane Gillis was hired as a cast member in 2019, but was fired days after the announcement? Find out why here.
