“Ludicrously Capacious Bag” Goes Under The Hammer For Thousands At ‘Succession’ Prop Sell-Off

The breakout star of the premiere of Succession’s final season is going under the hammer as part of a big sell-off of more than 230 props and costumes from the award-winning show.

The “ludicrously capacious” Burberry bag appeared on the arm of Bridget, Cousin Greg’s (Nicholas Braun) date to Logan Roy’s birthday party, something Tom Wambsgans (Matthew Macfadyen) called “an enormous faux pas.”

After terming the bag, unforgettably, “ludicrously capacious, Tom asked Greg, “What’s even in there, huh? Flat shoes for the subway? Her lunch pail? I mean, Greg, it’s monstrous. It’s gargantuan. You could take it camping. You could slide it across the floor after a bank job.” The exchange inspired dozens of memes when the episode aired in 2023.

Bids for the bag currently stand at $4,100 on the Heritage Auctions website, ahead of the items going under the hammer this Saturday.

Other items include the family’s cocktail bar set, watches, the scorpion paperweight that Tom bought for his unimpressed wife and even the sausages used by Logan Roy to torment his entourage with his “boar on the floor” game.

Currently, the highest bid item is a collection of speech cards used by Roman Roy (Kieran Culkin) at his father’s funeral. Bidding for the set is at $10,500 as of Saturday morning.

Succession went out on a high last weekend, winning a clutch of Golden Globe awards for its fourth and final season – Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook won Best Actor and Actress respectively in a drama, Macfadyen scooped Best Supporting Actor, with the show also collecting Best Drama Series.
