Exclusive Interview With Luisa Wilson

We are getting to chat with the talented Luisa Wilson and we are so excited. Luisa is such a unique artist and everyone should be listening. Thank you for taking the time to chat with us. You have a new release out – congrats! What can you tell us about this song?

Thank you so much!  Yes, my new single “Love For Her” is out! It’s been so rewarding to write and develop this song and watch It grow from an idea into something perceptible by people other than myself. This song is a pretty heart wrenching ballad about unrequited love, with is a very juicy topic to write about as it turns out. I wrote it over a year ago in my freshman-year dorm room without ever thinking it would see the light of day, but it’s turned to to be one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written.  It’s a very soulful pop song with some r&b and indie influence.

You write your own music which is so cool. What is your writing process like?

It’s not the exact same each time I write a song. More times than not, a song idea will come to me at random times throughout the day; in class, on the subway, in a dream, or right before I fall asleep. Sometimes, a song comes out of pure will. My writing process is centered around letting go and giving my inner creative reins. If I am sitting down and writing a song from scratch with no context or idea for the direction, I will usually play around on the guitar until I hear something that piques my interest, and whatever emotion the music exudes is the emotion I tap into with my melodies and lyrics.

If we were riding in your car with you – who would be playing through the speakers?

A ton of SZA, Amy Winehouse, Jazmine Sullivan, Jesse Reyez, Billie Eilish, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Ariana Grande, and sooo many more.

Dream artist you would love to work with?

To work with Beyoncé would be a literal dream come true.

Your songs are deeply personal and feel like you have a message to get across. Share more with our readers about this!

I write a lot from personal experiences and the experiences of people close to me, so my lyrics come from a place that’s grounded in real emotion and meaning. The message is different with each song, but the intention is always the same; to make something people can feel.

I know everyone reading will want to – so tell us where can we keep up with you on socials and see what you have coming up next?
