Stranger Things fans have theory about the school counsellor – and how did we not think of this before?!

We have a Stranger Things-shaped void in our hearts, and we won’t be able to think about anything else until season 4’s Vol. 2 drops on Netflix on 1 July.

So we’re putting this time to good use by welcoming multiple fan theories about what may happen in the next instalment as Hawkin’s terrifying new monster Vecna continues to wreak havoc across the city.

And there’s one fan theory in particular that we have to give a solid Eleven out of ten – because How. Did. We. Miss. That?!

So basically, we learn early on that Vecna has been targeting those with past trauma who have sought the assistance of their Hawkins High School counsellor, Ms. Kelly.

Even Max (played by Sadie Sink) turns to her as an outlet as she tried to process the death of her brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery) at the end of season four.

Later, she begins seeing apparitions of her late brother and an eerie grandfather clock.

Trying to get to the bottom of all the weird occurrences, Max breaks into Ms. Kelly’s office and steals the files of the others who had been brutally slain – and realises they had all been seeing the same unexplainable things as she had before their death. Creepy.

Knowing that she has limited time, Max very nearly feels the wrath of Vecna, but manages to escape thanks to THAT iconic Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God) scene. (Kate Bush, we love you).

And now, a fan has dissected the Ms. Kelly scenes and, in particular, noticed that she wore a necklace that appeared to have a clock inside of a key on it. Oh my! And if that wasn’t enough, you can also hear the sound of a clock ticking in the background as she speaks with Max.

With the grandfather clock being directly related to Vecna, as it’s the last sound the victims hear before dying, the fan pointed out that Ms. Kelly could have been working with the terrifying creature all along. Trust no one!

“You made a good point how did I miss that,” one person commented under the fan theory video on TikTok.

Another wrote: “Omg thank you for noticing cuz I didn’t, love this theory,” while a third added: “Literally and the fact that she didn’t even try to tell the police the students who died all had the same symptoms.”

So, will a villainous unravelling of Ms. Kelly take centre stage in Stranger Things Vol.2, or are we just grasping for straws? We cannot wait to find out!
