Elden Ring: How To Get The Crystal Staff | Screen Rant

The Crystal Staff is a magical weapon in Elden Ring that increases the potency of Crystalian Spells, Sorceries wielded by Crystalian Mages. These Spells include Crystal Release, Crystal Torrent, and Shattering Crystal. However, Tarnished spellcasters should keep in mind that the Crystal Barrage and Crystal Burst Sorceries are not Crystalian spells despite their name and appearance. As a result, the Crystal Staff’s buff in Elden Ring does not affect them.

Wielding the Crystal Staff requires a stat allocation of Strength 8 and Intelligence 48, making it more of a mid to late-game weapon compared to something like the Carian Glintblade Staff. The Crystal Staff also has an alternate version known as the Rotten Crystal Staff. This variant is not different from its counterpart besides its appearance and the gimmick ability to inflict Scarlet Rot with melee strikes. The Rotten Crystal Staff can be acquired from farming Crystalian Mages within Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree. On the other hand, the Crystal Staff is located in a fixed location in Liurnia of the Lakes.

To get the Crystal Staff in Elden Ring, Tarnished must explore the Academy Crystal Cave, a small grotto on the western side of the cliffs surrounding the Raya Lucaria Academy. Adventurers can reach this location by riding north from the Temple Quarter Site of Grace or going south from the Crystalline Woods Grace and slipping through the slanted rock formation. Tarnished will need two Stonesword Keys to break the Imp Statue Seal at the cave’s entrance.

The reason most Elden Ring fans will enter the Academy Crystal Cave is likely for Terra Magicus, a Sorcery that buffs any caster’s magical Spells within its arcane seal. This Sorcery is received as a reward for defeating the Crystalian Boss Duo and completing the Dungeon. On the other hand, the Crystal Staff is located within the cave’s tunnels but hidden behind an easily missable Illusory Wall.

Starting from the Site of Grace in the Academy Crystal Cave, head down the first tunnel into the watery area with purple crystals growing from the ground. Be mindful of the single Raya Lucaria Sorcery hiding behind a crystal and several others lurking nearby in the darkness. Head into the second tunnel’s entry point around the corner on the right side. Open the door to enter the last chamber preceding the boss room. Strike the wall on the left of the doorway to dispel an Illusory Wall, revealing a path to a hidden storage area. Loot the chest on the upper level at the end to obtain the Crystal Staff in Elden Ring.
