On The Late Show Stephen Colbert Singles Out An Indiana Senator For His Comments On Education

On The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the host discusses Indiana Senator’s comments regarding school teachers.

Senator Scott Baldwin introduced a bill last month that would prohibit schools from teaching a variety of concepts related to sex, race, religion, nationality, ethnicity, color, or national origin. With so much left out of the curriculum, Colbert surmises what future lessons would be.

“Shop class and six hours of dodge ball.”

The bill received a lot of backlash, so the state senate held a hearing so a high school teacher could explain why educators can’t always be neutral especially when explaining certain world events, but to which Baldwin responded that teachers CAN be impartial to all the -isms. He later commented that he failed to ” adequately articulate,” what he meant.

“Failed to adequately articulate what he said is a pretty generous way of describing I did the exact opposite,” said Colbert who then begins to compare what Baldwin said with a small skit of some comedy involving rapper Sir-Mix-a-Lot.

“When I said I like big butts and I cannot lie, I failed to articulate that I’m actually more of a boob guy.”
