Exclusive Interview with Kendra Chantelle

Kendra!! Please tell us what is going on with you and your music right now?! How excited are you to be over 2020?!

Hi! Thanks so much for chatting with me today. I just released a full length album last month named “Carousel” so I’m excited to see how it continues to be received and I also wrote and recorded a song as part of a compilation album “Write By The Sea Vol 3” that comes out Jan 30 so I’m super pumped for that to get out into the world. As much as I know we are all SO ready to bid farewell to 2020, I also have to acknowledge the immense gratitude I have for the year I’ve just had. Through the uncertainty, I was able to find immense silver linings and I think this year offered so much time for reflection, clarity and reset. I can’t even be mad at it. That being said, 2021 I am so ready to meet you and all you have to offer!!

Are you exploring any genre changes to your music?

I don’t think I can say I am exploring any genre changes to my sound. I feel that “Carousel” is the first body of work I’ve ever had that feels 100% authentically me- I still don’t really know what genre to consider it- but I look forward to making more music that falls into that category. I know that evolution is an inevitable part of art, so when it changes I won’t fight it, but I am so happy to finally feel like my sound exists outside of my mind. I’m in no hurry to leave this comfy home base I waited so long to find.

What is the importance of connecting with fans?

I think connecting with fans is vital because they are the compass that navigates where your music goes in so many ways. I love to hear what songs fans are listening to and why. I’m always in awe of the infinite ways people can receive a song/lyric. I have my own perspective that I wrote and sang it from, but hearing the ways people plug in their own experiences and find meaning in it is THE coolest, most interesting part of creating for me. Songs take on whole new meanings and lives when they reach the ears of others. Being able to hear from those people is so special.

Who tells you most often how proud they are of you?

Aww my husband tells me often he is proud of me and that is really nice to hear. It seems like a simple phrase but when you’re working relentlessly toward something, to hear “hey I see you and I’m proud of you” goes a long way.

Tell us where our followers can stay connected and listen to all your music because we just can’t get enough!!
