Bloody Disgusting’s Next ‘V/H/S’ Movie Glitches Back to 1994

We’ve found even more tapes.

It looks like we couldn’t keep the secret this time around as The Hollywood Reporter broke this news this am that Bloody Disgusting is working on a brand new V/H/S movie!

It’s hard to discuss without spoiling anything, but what I can say is this one is going to be big time. While the very first V/H/S was a little film made by a bunch of friends, the new one has grand ambitions and we’re hoping to take it to the next level. It’s been in the works for a while now as these films are insanely complicated to develop, but the pieces are finally coming together and we’re working really hard to offer up an even crazier, fresh experience.

As the site notes, the working title is V/H/S 94 (V/H/S/94?) and reunites some of the original filmmakers, while also introducing new voices.

It’s being spearheaded by David Buckner, who directed the “Amateur Night” segment of the first V/H/S, which featured the breakout performance of Hannah Fierman as a succubus. Bruckner, whose feature The Night House was picked up by Searchlight Pictures out of Sundance this year for $12 million, and who recently signed on to helm Spyglass Media’s Hellraiser remake, has written and developed V/H/S 94 and will produce the film. We’ve been a huge fan since he directed one part of The Signal and also love his Netflix creature feature The Ritual.

Another familiar face is Simon Barrett, who helped create the V/H/S franchise and also directed the second film’s wraparound. Simon has just completed his feature directorial debut, Seance, starring Suki Waterhouse, and also penned several classic horror films from Dead Birds to A Horrible Way to Die, You’re Next, The Guest, and Blair Witch.

Filmmaking collective Radio Silence (Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella) which, like Bruckner contributed to the first V/H/S film with their action-packed haunter “10/31/98”, will also produce V/H/S 94. After directing the instant classic Ready or Not for Searchlight Pictures, Spyglass locked in the filmmakers to helm the next Scream sequel.

Then there’s the great Timo Tjahjanto, the Indonesian filmmaker who co-directed V/H/S/2 favorite “Safe Haven” and will this time go solo with V/H/S 94. Tjahjanto became a horror name with his Indonesian splatterfest Macabre and also is behind two recent Netflix classics, The Night Comes For Us and May the Devil Take You, as well as Killers and Headshot.

We’re also incredibly excited to get to work with Chloe Okuno, who directed the phenomenal must-see AFI horror short “Slut” (watch it below). She’s an outstanding new voice in horror and has projects in the works with A24, Orion, and Spooky Pictures.

This isn’t even the full roster as we’re still assembling all the tapes. We’ll have more news in the near future.

As for the team behind the next V/H/S, I’m producing again alongside Tom Owen with Josh Goldbloom and Parinda Patel of the newly formed Cinepocalypse Productions in partnership with Studio71.

Raven Banner Entertainment is handling worldwide sales and is introducing the project to buyers at the Virtual Cannes Market this week. Michael Paszt, James Fler and Andrew T Hunt will also executive produce.

With all that out of the way, take 20 minutes of your day and enjoy Chloe Okuno’s short film “Slut” right here…
