“Purest content on the internet” commented Jameela Jamil on Billie Eilish’s Instagram page.
The post in question is a short clip from a recent 45-minute interview Justin Bieber gave to Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. In it he cries as he pledges support for Eilish, explaining that he feels protective of the 18-year-old star.
“If she ever needs me, I’m going to be here for her,” the 25-year-old Canadian-born singer whose first hit, “One Time,” was released when he was just 15.
“I don’t want her to go through anything I went through,” he continued. “I don’t wish that upon anybody. If she ever needs me, I’m just a call away.”
Eilish’s social media share included pictures of her younger, pre-hair dyed self in a Justin Bieber tank top, two images from her childhood bedroom festooned with Bieber posters, and a shot of her door labelled “Forever Belieber! Billie’s Room.”
The accompanying caption read “stream changes” and down the thread Bieber fired back “Love you !!!”
Thousands of others weighed in alongside Jamil including, perhaps surprisingly, the official social arm of 1990s rap act Cyprus Hill. (Their comment was an emoji wearing sunglasses.)
Bieber’s full interview also included a frank discussion of his past behavior, his religious faith, living with Lyme disease and his marriage to Hailey Bieber.
