Eileen Shapiro – “Waiting For Adam”

Imagine the answers to the most sensitive and informational questions of over 50 of the most admired and illuminating stars, the most iconic and legendary Rock Stars, the most hysterically funny humorists, and the most popular TV personalities all under one roof…..or in one book so to speak. “Waiting For Adam” is Rock Star journalist and Public Relations magnate Eileen Shapiro’s exciting voyage through the Red Carpets of Hollywood, the bright lights of New York, and the depths of England, Ireland, and Paris, and all the interesting people she had conversations in her quest to interview Adam Ant.

“Waiting For Adam”, published by New Haven Publishing will be available on July 23rd, 2020, although you are able to reserve your copy now during pre-sale on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and others. Aside from all the first-hand interviews and the behind the scene secrets the book is a daring autobiographical exploration, both shocking and funny.

Included are interviews of artists including: Boy George, Diana Ross, Annie Lennox, Brooke Shields, Jennifer Hudson, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, Joe Alwyn, Quiet Riot, Rosie O’Donnell, Billy Porter, Tiffany Haddish, Fred Schneider, Jennifer Nettles, Melissa Etheridge, Dionne Warwick, Cyndi Lauper Spandau Ballet, Rick Springfield, Cheap Trick, Stray Cats, Kelly Ripa, Scott Page, Michael Musto, Stephen Perkins, Jennifer Saunders, Joanna Lumley, Sandra Bernhard, LeAnn Rimes, Taylor Dayne, and many others.

You have interviewed so many cool people, is there anyone you still want to interview?

Yes, Billy Idol….so if anyone reading this has a connection please let me know.

What drove you to write this book?

Originally it was the idea of Adam’s publicist who thought it would be funny to begin a book with her declining my request for interviewing Adam in a humorous conversation we had. I then realized that putting all my conversations into one book might be fun. This way if any fans of these artists missed the actual interview, they had the book to fall back on. My inspiration came from my soul-mate Colin Hogan, my best friend for over 30 years, and my friend celebrity photographer Billy Hess and his husband Mark DeAlwis. I also was encouraged by Mike Todd, the publisher of Get Out Magazine where most of my interviews came from.

So, it isn’t really about Adam Ant?

Only as far as my own experiences in meeting and interviewing him. He was one of my heroes in the 80’s and then when he emerged again around 2013 I became a fan again….only this time around an adult fan.

Have you ever had a bad interview?

I am lucky enough to develop a pretty good rapport with most of the people I interview, and in some cases a friendship. Most people are excited to talk about themselves and I am excited to listen and then to write about them.

You write for many magazines?

Yes. Currently I write for about 72 publications globally. Aside from Get Out I have also written for Huff Post, Louder Than War, Splash Magazines, Vents, Hype, Skope, Sophisticated Bitch, Buzz Feed, Hollywood Digest, and many others.

You also own a PR company, are your clients included within the pages of your book?

Absolutely. I have a chapter in the book, “Life After Adam” where I include some of the interviews and stories of my clients including Scott Page from Pink Floyd, CeCe Peniston, SohoJohnny, Sherry Nelson, Wendy Stuart Kaplan, No Mansfield, Mickey Burns, and some others.

Will you be thinking of a sequel?

Of course….”Waiting For Billy.”
