JaneliaSoul Interview

Welcome JaneliaSoul! Excited to chat with you today. We know you’re quite an advocate for affirmations. How important are affirmations in your day to day life?

I think we all experience those voices, be it internal or external, that tries to tell us that we are not good enough or cannot achieve something. Affirmations serve as a reminder that yes, I can achieve, I can succeed which then becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Affirmations have been an essential part of my personal development and my music.

Self-care is a huge part of having good wellbeing. What are some of the things you do to make sure you’re taking care of yourself?

I am currently doing a 15 day green smoothie challenge which I just started yesterday. I realized a while ago that I constantly need to challenge myself and work on myself to have good wellbeing so it’s one challenge after another. I love that I can make a promise to myself and keep it.

Name something you are proud of achieving in your career. As an independent artist, I am proud of having the opportunity to play big stages such as Artscape and Light city festival and share stages with other big name artists.

What would be a piece of advice you would give to your younger self?

Keep your eyes on the prize; there were moments that I got discouraged and stopped moving towards my goals so I would definitely tell my younger self to keep pressing forward despite the obstacles.

Artists can be a sort of role model to many people.

Would you consider yourself a role model? Absolutely, especially to the younger folks. I actually recently obtained a 501(C)(3) status for my non-profit organization Xtracurricular Organization (XO). My goal is not to only be a role model but also to bring free music education to the inner city youth.

Your fashion sense is fabulous. Was there anyone who influenced your style?

Thanks, my style influence does not really come from someone but rather the fashion trends that you will see in Lagos Nigeria. You will see a lot of bold and colorful wax print patterns fused with modern fashion and I just love that.

Where is the best place for people to connect with you on social media?

I share a lot of content on instagram and my handle is @janeliasoul.
