With one spot-on line read, Sandra Oh made us nostalgia for The Princess Diaries all over again. During a recent virtual interview on The Graham Norton Show, Oh reminisced about her brief-but-iconic role as Vice Principal Gupta in the 2001 film.

According to Oh, throughout her career she would go through phases of being typecast. During some periods, she’d be cast as teachers, then as doctors, then as therapists. But one major role to emerge from the educator season was as Mia Thermopolis’ (Anne Hathaway) high school vice principal. In one scene, Oh’s character prepares for the arrival of Queen Clarisse (Julie Andrews) on school grounds. Oh told Morton during the interview, “I haven’t seen [the movie] since, but I remember it,” before raising her hand to ear as a phone and delivering that memorable line: “The Queen is coming.”

Considering Oh hasn’t seen the movie since its release nearly 20 years ago, her re-enactment was on-point. The Emmy winner isn’t the only cast member referencing Princess Diaries during quarantine. Hathaway incorporated her pose on the movie’s poster while participating in the viral #PillowChallenge on Instagram. “‘A Queen is never late; everyone else is simply early,'” Hathaway captioned the post, quoting Andrews’ Queen of Genovia. In the photo, she sports a pair of oversized sunglasses, headphones, and combat boots. The post garnered more than 2 million likes.

All of this has made us even more eager for The Princess Diaries 3, which as of last year is reportedly very much in the works. At the very least, Oh might as well check out the first film while she’s stuck at home.
