The Dregs First Look: Stephen Lang Pours a Cursed Grappa

Stephen Lang is pouring the drinks this time. The first image from The Dregs has him serving a glass of grappa, and the recipe is the trouble: he plays a bitter Alpine waiter whose family method for the stuff runs on alchemy and witchcraft.

WTFilms has boarded international sales on the comedy-thriller and will unveil a promo reel at the American Film Market, which runs November 10 to 15. Connor Martin wrote and directed, his first feature. The film is in post-production.

Lang Is the Villain Again

Lang’s second act in horror has mostly been spent playing the threat. Don’t Breathe built a whole film around his blind veteran hunting three burglars through his own house, he came back for Don’t Breathe 2, and Fede Alvarez has a third script written with Lang and Jane Levy returning. A waiter with a cursed family recipe is a smaller stage than that house in Detroit. It is the same job.

The Cast on the Trip

Nava Mau, Emmy-nominated for Baby Reindeer, leads. Shohreh Aghdashloo, Piper Curda, Maddie Phillips, Max Lloyd-Jones, Charlie Gillespie and Maria Grazia Cucinotta are also in the cast. Mike Stern developed the project and produces through Astral Plane with Yasir Anwar, Marco Allegri and Martin.

Dread Central reports the shoot happened in British Columbia, a long way from the Alps, and no North American distributor has been announced.
