Holocaust Drama The Night Of Broken Glass, With Clive Owen, Mélanie Laurent & Alexander Pettyfer, Gets North American Deal

EXCLUSIVE: Quiver Distribution has acquired the North American rights to The Night of Broken Glass, the historical drama based on true events, directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Stefan Ruzowitzky (The Counterfeiters).

As we’ve previously reported, the film from Dor Film, Benaroya Pictures and The Launch Company stars BAFTA and Golden Globe winner Clive Owen (Children of Men), Mélanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds) and Alexander Pettyfer (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare).

Written by Jonathan Frank, Scott Mann, Uli Edel and Julius Grützke, Quiver will release the film theatrically in North America on January 29, 2027.

Historical thriller The Night of Broken Glass, based on the events of Kristallnacht, is “set in Berlin, in November 1938. Following the assassination of a German diplomat in Paris, Nazi propaganda exploits the incident to unleash a wave of violence against the Jewish population. As mobs storm Jewish neighborhoods and places of worship, Police Lieutenant Wilhelm Krützfeld (Clive Owen) and his partner, Kai Lehmann (Alexander Pettyfer), investigate the murder of a Jewish doctor amid the escalating chaos. With orders to stand down as the city descends into violence, Krützfeld finds himself increasingly torn between his duty to the regime and his own sense of right and wrong. Over the course of one harrowing night, he must confront his conscience, find the courage to act on his convictions, and decide whether he is willing to risk everything to do what is right.”

“The Night of Broken Glass is a powerful and gripping film about a defining moment in history, and the courage it takes to stand against injustice. With antisemitism once again on the rise around the world, this story feels particularly urgent and relevant. Stefan Ruzowitzky has crafted a compelling thriller that reminds us how quickly hatred can take hold, and how the choices of individuals can make a difference. As we mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day, we are proud to bring this timely and important film to theaters across North America,” said Quiver Co-Presidents Jeff Sackman and Berry Meyerowitz.

“Making The Night of Broken Glass was an opportunity to revisit a defining moment in history and examine the human choices made in its midst. I wanted to approach the story with respect for the historical realities while exploring the characters and the decisions they face. I hope the film encourages audiences to reflect on how prejudice and hatred take hold, and on the importance of standing against injustice,” added director Stefan Ruzowitzky.
