Stage 32 Launches Marketplace To Combat AI Slop

EXCLUSIVE: Script platform Stage 32 has launched an official marketplace to partly help combat an influx of AI-written projects.

The Stage 32 Marketplace, which launched yesterday, allows executives to discover film and TV projects that have been fully vetted via an “evaluation process” conducted by humans. Only scripts submitted across Stage 32’s 15-year existence with “exceptional valuations” will appear on the markteplace and execs can then review each project’s credentials and download scripts and materials, while requesting meetings with the creators.

Since 2011 launch, Stage 32 has evaluated 235,000 projects, it said. The marketplace kickstarts with more than 4,000 and access for 3,000 industry execs.

Recent projects to have started life on Stage 32 include Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Jack Quaid thriller Neighborhood Watch and No Address starrring William Baldwin.

Richard Botto, who runs Stage 32, said the platform has a strict no AI policy and is using the marketplace as one way to combat AI slop.

“There’s no shortage of great material being written, but producers and executives simply don’t have the time or resources to evaluate everything that’s out there,” said Botto, a WGA screenwriter, producer of the Sundance award-winning Another Happy Day.

“As a writer and producer myself, I saw this challenge from both sides. I built Stage 32 to bring the industry closer together, and the Marketplace is the culmination of that vision.”
