Kacey Musgraves is giving one of her Texas-inspired tunes a new twist. The artist has released a Spanish-language re-recording of “Uncertain, TX,” this time teaming up with legendary Música Mexicana group Intocable. The collaboration puts a fresh spin on the fan-favorite track, which has become a big hit on regional Texas radio stations.
The new version continues Musgraves’ exploration of the musical traditions that connect Texas, country music and the Mexican-American borderlands — a theme that runs throughout her latest Lost Highway album, Middle of Nowhere. For Intocable, “Uncertain, TX” is a rare collaboration with an English-speaking artist amid a nearly 35-year career. The Zapata, Tx.-based group has won two Grammys and is regarded as one of the most influential Tejano/Norteño of recent decades.
“Having a song with the legends of Intocable is such a thrill for me,” Musgraves says of “Uncertain, TX,” the studio version of which features Willie Nelson. “As a Texan, I am proud of the cultural melting pot that makes our state so great.”
Musgraves is currently out on her 34-date Middle of Nowhere tour, which continues tonight (Oct. 6) in Houston, Tx., and will wrap Oct. 26-27 in Seattle. She heads into this year’s CMA Awards with five nominations, including Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. They’ll be handed out Nov. 18 in Nashville.
Musgraves also recently delivered a tribute to close friend Dolly Parton with a cover of “I Will Always Love You” at the MTV Video Music Awards.
