Cashmere brunette plays on the process and texture of cashmere, weaving ultra fine high and lowlights together to give a soft, dimensional and expensive-looking brunette, that edges into bronde territory. Rather than one specific shade, it calls for a pretty balance of brunette through the base with lighter golden and creamy tones on top.
“Ask your hairdresser for a warm brunette base with subtle champagne or beige lights and a polished, glossy finish,” notes Melissa Timperley, hair stylist & founder of Melissa Salons.
Why is Cashmere Brunette trending?
The “expensive hair” movement has really been a push toward hair health. Ultra soft, glossy, conditioned hair relies on a healthy base, which is why so many of the colours that have trended recently have seen a reduction in bleach, with deeper blondes, brondes and light brunettes all benefitting from extra attention. “Cashmere brunette continues the de-blonding movement, giving blondes a low maintenance shift into warm cocoa and beige reflected brunettes,” explains Melissa.
It’s unsurprising that the shade is coming through for autumn as it plays up the traditional autumn tones of warm browns and bronzes. Plus, it has a little nostalgia too it as it’s basically The Rachel of hair colour, referencing the shade Jennifer Aniston wore as Rachel in the late 90s and early noughties.
Another reason to love it? It works across a huge range of skin tones and there’s a rendition that’s flattering for everyone. “This suits neutral and warm skin tones and works beautifully for anyone wanting an ‘expensive brunette’ look,” notes Melissa.
