The best petite leggings in my collection always get worn on heavy rotation. They don’t bunch at my ankles, they don’t sag or get baggy at the crotch over time, and most importantly, they make me feel confident.
As a shopping editor, I’ve tested so many activewear brands over the years, so I’m a bit of an expert when it comes to women’s leggings. As someone who is 5’2″, I frequently run into pairs that are way too long for my legs, have inseams that are far too long and I’m used to having to deal with awkward waistband lengths. But I’ve had enough of trying to make ‘regular’ leggings work for my shorter frame, so I went on a mission to find the most petite-friendly pairs.
To do this, I tested so many styles designed specifically for petite frames, including 7/8-length and capri leggings. I’m a pretty active person, so you can trust these pairs will really hold up on runs, through workout classes, athleisure looks or just while lounging at home.
The best petite leggings, at a glance
Why you can trust me
As I’ve mentioned, I’m a petite woman myself, so who better to guide you to the best petite-friendly legging that someone who actually wears them? I know how tricky it can be to find high waisted leggings don’t almost go over your boobs, I know how flared leggings are often a complete trip hazard and even how some 7/8 leggings can be too long for those with a smaller frame. And aside from length, you also have to consider how breathable they are, you want the elastic waist to be secure enough so it doesn’t slip down as you move, but not so tight that it squeezes your organs! They need to be sweat-wicking if you want them for sports, squat-proof if you’re having a big workout, and of course it goes without saying that non-see-through pairs are essential. rest assured, I’ve found women’s petite leggings that meet my very fussy criteria.
How we tested
The only way to really know which petite leggings are the best is to try them out. And while you may think this means me putting them on and walking around my house in them, far from it, I took the leggings test very seriously, wearing each pair multiple times for different activities – from hiking and pilates to intense workout and yes, I did lounge around in them to see how they faired in this department, too. Petite fit leggings are hard to find, but after an intense test I believe I’ve found the vest best petite leggings for all.
