‘Superman’ Sequel ‘Man Of Tomorrow’ Wraps Filming: “Truly A Joyful Experience”

James Gunn is sharing an update on the Superman sequel, Man of Tomorrow, as he marks the final day of principal photography.

The DC Studios film, which is set for release on July 9, 2027, will have David Corenswet reprise his role as Clark Kent after this summer’s Supergirl.

“That’s a wrap on principal photography for Man of Tomorrow,” Gunn shared on Threads. “Truly a joyful experience, and I have immense gratitude to my cast and crew.”

The first photo Gunn shared had Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor in the DCU, swimming with the filmmaker, saying he “jumped in the lake after [the] last shot.”

“The brain trust (except Brian) around video village during the whole shoot. They make making movies fun,” Gunn wrote about the second picture.

Man of Tomorrow will also feature Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Adria Arjona as Maxima.

Aaron Pierre, who plays John Stewart in HBO’s Lanterns, will jump to the big screen in the Superman sequel. Also returning to reprise his Blue Beetle role is Xolo Maridueña, who will play the superhero once again since the 2023 film, directed by Ángel Manuel Soto.

Gunn recently debunked rumors around the DCU amid the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger.

Answering a fan query on Threads about the current status of DCU development projects, Gunn said, “Nothing is on hold.”

Another fan posted a screenshot that claimed director Andy Muschietti said work on the Batman film based on The Brave and the Bold was on hold amid the merger.

“It doesn’t sound like something Andy would have said, but the project is in no way on hold,” Gunn replied on Threads.
