King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard will release their new rave-themed 28th album, Alien Metal, on Friday, August 14th.
Alien Metal finds King Gizz embracing a more electro-centric direction, hinted at by the band’s recent and upcoming “Rave Shows” and the project’s three existing singles, “Level 5,” “Alien Metal,” and “Kill for the Steel.” The album was created using a modular synthesizer setup employed during their rave sets — a system they call “Nathan” — and sees the psych group exploring the darker side of electronic dance music.

King Gizzard have a few shows to come in support of Alien Metal and their orchestral-themed 2025 album, Phantom Island. They’ll headline their own Field of Vision II festival in Buena Vista, Colorado this weekend, followed by a quartet of shows in New York — two of which are billed as Rave Shows.
