When comparing the biggest bestseller lists, there’s one title that deserves a special shout-out: Theo of Golden by Allen Levi is #1 on every list. Considering it came out in 2025, that’s quite the accomplishment. I also wanted to mention a quirk of the Publishers Weekly list this week, which includes a book that isn’t on the top ten for any of the others: Pokécology an Illustrated Guide to Pokémon Ecology. It looks adorable!
There are three books appearing on this roundup for the first time this week. One is Daggermouth by H. M. Wolfe, which has gotten a lot of buzz both for the author’s seven-figure advance for the duology as well as accusations of it being AI-written, which the author and publisher deny.
The other two newcomers to this list are Sea of Charms by Sarah Beth Durst, a cozy fantasy romance set in the same world as The Spellshop; and Just for the Plot by Meghan Quinn, a spicy sports romance from the author of A Not So Meet Cute.
This list continues to lack diversity on many levels, including being disproportionately by white authors. Some Indie Bestsellers and Independent Press Bestsellers you should know about are Cool Machine (The Harlem Trilogy #3) by Colson Whitehead, The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones, and Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
