Wedge Mules Have Made A Comeback, Here’s 5 Ways To Wear Them

It’s been a long time since wedge mules have been considered a fashion-forward decision for sharp, cool women. Maybe it’s because the shoe shape conjures up a too-recent past that we’d all rather forget? Think careless fast fashion of the 00s, family BBQs filled with women wearing a thick raffia wedge, and strapping into our ‘comfy’ wedge heel for nights out at provincial clubs with a fake ID. In short, they’re long been considered tacky, and certainly not a style choice that’s often made in good taste.

But this summer has shown us something different, designers have been sneaking this icon silhouette of a shoe back onto the runway and into their collections. From Alaia’s sleek and minimalist take on the wedge – allowing this trusty shoe into the upper echelons of fashion, to the Chloe Maxime Sandal – a thick wooden wedge crudely etched in graffiti that could easily be mistaken for those love notes crudely carved into a tree or back of a club’s toilet door.
