Teenage darts champion and prodigy Luke Littler is headlining Netflix‘s next big live event.
Littler posted a vid this morning asking for members of the public to come forward and challenge him for £501,000 ($667,000) at a live event in which they will attempt to beat him at his own game.
Those who want to compete against Littler can apply from now and the one-off live event will take place October 30, produced by Banijay-backed Workerbee. The jackpot is a reference to the 501 points that players work down from in darts as they aim for a score of zero. A tournament for those who want to face him will take place in London and Manchester in September. “Reckon you could beat me in a game of darts?,” Littler asks in the vid, as he combs through social media messages from people confident they could overcome the master.
Littler is a darts sensation and is now one of the most prominent names of all time from the sport. The 19-year-old has won the past two World Darts Championships along with the most recent Premier League. A number of documentaries have been made about him and he is by a distance the most recognizable name from the quirky sport, which attracts huge crowds to its world championships in North London.
The show may have been written in the stars after a recent idea from one Instagram user went viral, which was that Littler should challenge champion British runner Mo Farah to a half marathon during which they each complete a leg of darts at the end of every mile. Littler challenged Farah to the race soon after it took off on social media.
The show comes from Netflix UK’s live team led by Daisy Lilley, which we revealed had been formed earlier this year off the back of the success of the likes of Skyscraper Live and the boxing match between Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov.
