How I tested this year’s LookFantastic advent calendars:

Beauty advent calendar season is a pretty big deal around here, and I’ve been covering it for the past six years as a beauty journalist. This year, with the help of the wider Glamour team, I called in as many of the 2026 calendars as possible – including LookFantastic’s – before taking them all along to our annual beauty advent calendar shoot. We opened every drawer, filmed the contents and got a proper look at what was inside, rather than relying on product lists and press images.

For LookFantastic, I looked at the product selection and sizes, overall value, packaging and what’s changed versus last year, as well as how many of the products I’ve already tested and would genuinely recommend. I also compared it with the other big calendars launching this year – and with 19 full sizes among its 27 products, plus several products I already use and love, there was plenty that stood out.

I’ve been a beauty journalist for more than six years, spending the past two at Glamour and, before that, working as Fashion & Beauty Commerce Lead at The Mirror. My work has also appeared across titles including OK! Magazine, the Express, Manchester Evening News and the Evening Standard.

During that time, I’ve tested hundreds of beauty products across skincare, makeup, haircare and beauty tech, and interviewed dermatologists, makeup artists, hairstylists and other experts along the way. I’ve also covered beauty advent calendars every year, so I know what makes a line-up stand out – but it’s not all positive around here. I’ll always point out what I don’t love, what I think is missing and what could have been done better, whether that’s too many minis, repeat products or a price increase I don’t think is justified. EYNTK on the LookFantastic K-Beauty advent calendar:

The LookFantastic team has been busy this year, launching not one but four advent calendars for 2026. And while there are only 12 doors, I actually quite like that they’ve kept the price lower rather than trying to turn it into another £100+ calendar.

If you’re K-beauty obsessed, like me, this is such a good way to build out your Korean skincare routine without spending a fortune – yep, LF are seriously treating us. For £50, you’re getting 13 products worth over £140, with eight full sizes and some of the biggest K-beauty names around, including Beauty of Joseon, Medicube, SKIN1004, LANEIGE and Anua. I also love that it covers pretty much every step, from cleanser and SPF to serums, moisturiser, an eye treatment and even a scalp scrub. If you’ve been wanting to get into K-beauty but have no idea where to start, this does a lot of the hard work for you.

What makes the LookFantastic Beauty Advent Calendar 2026 different from last year’s?

NGL, one of my biggest pet hates when it comes to beauty advent calendars is opening one to find loads of the same products we saw the year before. Of course, some brands are bound to crop up again – particularly when they’re stocked by the retailer – but I still want the actual line-up to feel fresh. And that’s probably the biggest difference I noticed with LookFantastic’s 2026 calendar.

This year, 25 beauty experts, journalists, influencers and industry names have each handpicked a product for one of the doors, including The Girls Bathroom’s Sophia Tuxford and Cinzia Baylis-Zullo, celebrity hairstylist Sam McKnight and beauty tastemaker Gary Thompson. It makes the whole thing feel much more curated – almost like 25 individual recommendations – rather than a collection of products chosen simply because they happen to be stocked on the site.

There are some great new launches in there, too. Medik8’s Total Moisture Cleanser only launched this July, for example, which is exactly the sort of thing I want to see in a 2026 calendar. Last year’s line-up was by no means bad – you got 28 products worth over £655 for £105, with Sol de Janeiro, Medik8, Color Wow and Iconic London among the brands inside – but, to me, it felt a little more predictable. This year costs £15 more and contains one fewer product, but you’re getting 19 full sizes versus 17 last year, and I much prefer the overall edit.
