On Thursday, millions of Americans will attempt to set aside their differences long enough to enjoy a meal with members of their extended family.
If you count yourself among the many who are dreading the experience, just remember that it could be a lot worse — you could have the Markles as relatives.
Now, obviously, Meghan herself is a paragon of class and decency.
Unfortunately, she’s like a flower that grew out of manure, as the rest of the Markle family is truly awful.
That may sound harsh, but multiple members of the Markle clan have been devoting themselves to destroying from the time she started dating Prince Harry.
And sadly, their efforts have been both productive and lucrative, as the British tabloid media has once again proven that it has no shame by paying Meghan’s disgruntled relatives to talk trash about her.
Leading the charge has been Meghan’s wicked half-sister, Samantha Markle, who has made a career of attempting to destroy Meghan.
Fortunately, no publishing houses have shown any interest in Samantha’s long-rumored memoir.
Unfortunately, she’s been able to sell her libelous drivel to some of the UK’s most disreputable media outlets.
The latest to follow in Scammy Sammy’s treacherous footsteps is Mike Markle, Meghan’s uncle on her father’s side (of course), who recently sold this load of baseless BS to UK newspaper The Sun:
“Meghan has climbed socially and left us behind — that’s how I feel. I think that’s what happens when you’re ‘underclass’ and trying to rise above the reality of your situation,” Mike said, repeating one of the most well-worn digs at the Duchess of Sussex.
“She’s a prima donna because he (Thomas) treated her really well.”
From there, Mike repeated the common claim that Meghan’s middle-class upbringing left her in a state of seething rage for the
“Coming from her background, she may have a chip on her shoulder,” he told The Sun.
“It could be that that’s part of the problem she’s having with her sister-in-law. Meghan is immature in some ways. I feel that because of the way she acts — not only towards family members, but other people.”
This might seem like the usual jealous rage from the always-terrible Markle family, but there’s actually quite a bit to unpack here.
For a brief period of time — namely, the months after Meghan welcomed her first child — stories of this nature mostly disappeared from the tabloids.
It seems even the vampires who populate the UK media landscape aren’t willing to throw stones at a new mom.
But now, Meg-bashing is back, and it’s more popular than ever for two main reasons:
One, the reports of Meghan’s feud with Kate Middleton have made the Duchess of Sussex less popular than ever with a certain segment of the British population (read: bigots).
On top of that, the newly-litigious royal family is eager to shift the conversation away from the Prince Andrew sex scandal, which means they’re more likely than ever to turn a blind eye to any slanderous stories about Meghan.
Nasty business, eh?
