Good Omens Season 3: Renewal Status, Cast, Plot, and Premiere Date

It’s hard to believe that Good Omens has been on the air since 2019, yet only two seasons have aired.

The buzzy Prime Video comedy most recently aired in July 2023, and now, there are questions about a potential Good Omens Season 3.

Below, we’ve rounded up everything there is to know.

Good Omens Season 3 Renewal Status

Despite last airing several months ago, Prime Video has yet to confirm whether there will be more adventures for Aziraphale and Crowley.

In October 2023, Deadline hinted that a renewal would soon be made official.

The outlet said that options on the cast, led by Michael Sheen and David Tennant, had been picked up.

That typically means that a show is in active negotiations about a pickup.

The kicker is that Deadline hears Good Omens Season 3 will likely be the final season.

While it’s sad knowing this incredible show has an end date in mind, it is nice knowing it hasn’t been officially canceled.

There’s a high chance the series will score a pickup because all signs indicate the show is performing well.

Sheen, Tennant, and many other actors are in demand, so locking them in is the first hurdle to get the show back on the air.

Neil Gaiman had been vocal about the third season being planned.

“It’s planned and plotted and if there wasn’t a Writers Strike on I’d be writing it right now,” he wrote in response to a fan on X.

We’ll keep this page updated with new developments as they become available.

Good Omens Season 3 Would Have Leadership Changes

While details about Good Omens Season 3 remain scarce, Douglas Mackinnon, who served as executive producer, director, and co-showrunner on the first two seasons, will not be back.

Mackinnon shared the news on Instagram and declared in the comments section that he was no longer involved in the show.

Neil Gaiman told fans, “Douglas has moved on to other projects.”

Good Omens Season 3 Plot: What’s About to Go Down?

Good Omens Season 2 concluded thrillingly with Aziraphale and Crowley kissing.

There was still plenty of mythology left to be uncovered, so there was no indication that it would be the end of the story.

Plenty of stories remain left to tell, even if the series is running out of source material.

There is a high chance that Good Omens Season 3 would delve into material from his and Terry Pratchett’s unfinished book sequel.

It’s interesting for several reasons, but mostly because it will take the show into uncharted territory, giving book readers even more resolution.

Beyond that, details are very much up in the air.

As always, we’ll keep this page up to date with more information as it becomes available.

Good Omens Season 3 Cast: Who’s In?

There would be no Good Omens without Sheen and Tennant. Fans have connected with their characters in a big way.

Also expected to return is Doon Mackichan as Michael, Gloria Obianyo as Uriel,  Miranda Richardson as Shax, Liz Carr as Saraqael, Quelin Sepulveda as Muriel, and Shelley Conn as Beelzebub.

Jon Hamm, who played Gabriel, could also stage a comeback, but time will tell.

There will also likely be a lot of new faces because the series likes to bring us new characters.

Stay tuned to our casting news for all the latest updates.

Good Omens Season 3: When Will it Premiere?

With such a long hiatus between the first two seasons, it’s hard to tell when Good Omens Season 3 could premiere.

Without an official renewal, it is even more difficult, mainly because negotiations to pick up a series can break down at any time.

Knowing that the cast options have been extended is a good sign, and Gaiman’s sentiments about getting the story ironed out after the WGA strike make it seem like a renewal is inevitable.

If the show lands a renewal reasonably soon, there’s a good chance the series could be back on the air in the last quarter of 2024.

We could be looking at a 2025 return date, but it depends on when we get that much-needed renew/cancel news.

Good Omens Season 3: How Many Episodes Will Be Ordered?

Without a confirmed pickup, there’s no information about how many episodes Good Omens Season 3 will comprise.

The first two seasons clocked in at six episodes apiece, so we may be in for another six-episode season.

However, it’s also possible that we could get a little bit more if this does turn out to be the last season.

Good Omens Season 3: Is There a Trailer?

With the series still awaiting a renewal, it’s unsurprising that there isn’t any promotional footage.

If we get the renewal soon and the show enters production soon, we shouldn’t expect a promo until Prime Video schedules a premiere date.
