Natalie Portman went full Kristen Stewart in red-carpet short shorts

Natalie Portman is the latest celebrity to embrace red-carpet short shorts.

Last week, the 41-year-old actor attended the premiere of the HBO docuseries Angel City in a black Miu Miu suit with gold button detailing, showing a sliver of skin between the low-rise short shorts and slightly cropped jacket. Portman finished the ensemble with black peep-toe pumps, a red manicure, and minimal jewelry. For glam, the actor opted for a subtle smoky eye and rosy cheeks and wore her hair down in loose waves.

Though Kristen Stewart has been wearing shorts on the red carpet for years, the summer staple has been having a particularly strong moment since the Twilight star broke out her own version of formal short shorts at the 2022 Academy Awards.

For Hollywood’s biggest night, Stewart walked the carpet in a punk take on a classic suit, complete with Chanel short shorts, an open white collared shirt, statement jewels, and black pumps, which she quickly switched out for socks and loafers.

From there, Julia Roberts, Jennifer Garner, and Florence Pugh quickly followed suit, among other Hollywood A-listers. Stewart even paid homage to the iconic moment a year later by wearing a pair of black sequined knit shorts and a matching top to Chanel’s pre-Oscars dinner in 2023. It’s safe to say Natalie Portman is in some pretty great sartorial company.
