Back in May, former Vanderpump Rules stars Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark exchanged vows in Italy.
Legally, the couple was already married, but they tied the knot in a small civil ceremony at the height of the pandemic.
The Italian wedding was to serve as the realization of a dream that Stassi and Beau had harbored since before their engagement — all of their family and friends wishing the newlyweds well in one of the world’s most beautiful locales.
But one couple managed to cast a dark shadow over this gloriously sunny scene.
If you’re a Vanderpump fan, then by now, you’ve probably caught wind of the feud between Stassi and Brittany Cartwright.
As with most of the drama and negativity in Brittany’s life, the bad blood is a result of her marriage to Jax Taylor.
According to Stassi and Beau, Jax and Brittany not only skipped the wedding, they did so in the rudest fashion imaginable.
The Clarks claim that Jax and Brittany RSVP’d, then proceeded to trash-talk Stassi and Beau to mutual friends during the months leading up to the wedding.
Jax and Brittany then announced at the last minute — just days before the wedding — that they had changed their minds and would not be attending.
Brittany and Jax say they were forced to cancel by events beyond their control.
But the Clarks say the couple boasted to numerous mutual friends that they never had any intention of making the trip to Italy.
Stassi and Beau told their side of the story on their podcast, and Brit offered her account on an episode of Scheana Shay’s podcast shortly thereafter.
Not surprisingly, that interview only made the situation worse.
“The point of the podcast, honestly, was for [Stassi] to just understand Brittany’s side more because she wasn’t taking her calls and Brittany messaged her so many times with no response,” Scheana explained in a recent interview with Us Weekly.
“We didn’t do it maliciously or to talk s–t. And then the backlash from it, it was, like, that actually wasn’t even the intention.”
Sheana says that Brittany and Jax sent money to the Clarks to pay for the meal that was prepared for them in anticipation of their attendance at the wedding.
“We’re like, ‘Hopefully once [Stassi] hears this, she’ll be like, ‘Oh, my God, now I understand,’” Scheana added.
“Stassi sent the money back, Brittany had paid for the plates because she couldn’t make it. And said ‘Scheananigans podcast’ [as the note].”
In a different podcast interview, Brittany offered the following explanation for why she and Jax were unable to attend:
“Cruz’s passport didn’t come in [and] my mom had a death in the family and had to go home. I mean, there was actual things that happened right before the wedding that we actually couldn’t make it to the wedding for those reasons.”
Cartwright added that she felt “terrible” about having to cancel at “the last minute” and expressed regret over “not being able to be there for someone who I really do think of as one of my best friends.”
“I’m truly sorry. And I hope that one day, we’ll be able to talk about this and figure it all out. Because I do want our kids to grow up together,” she continued.
Cartwright later admitted that Taylor bombarded the newlyweds with “rage texts” after learning that Stassi and Beau were unhappy with his behavior.
“You know how Jax is, he’ll just text and rage text … He was expressing his doubts and that he didn’t really think he wanted to go anymore,” Brittany said.
Yeah, Brit might want to get used to scenarios like this one.
It’s hard to maintain close friendships when you’re married to a rage addict.
