Things We Saw Today: Wayne T. Carr Shares Green Lantern Photo on Snyder Cut Anniversary

Wayne T. Carr shares an image of himself as Green Lantern in Zack Snyder's Justice League

It’s the one year anniversary of Zack Snyder’s Justice League, a four hour epic that restored Snyder’s original vision for the Justice League saga. Fans will remember that Snyder left the film in 2017 due to his daughter’s tragic death, with Warner Bros. hiring Joss Whedon to take over directing duties. The resulting film was an absolute mess, made all the worse by allegations of Whedon’s terrible behavior on set. Last year, Snyder finally had the opportunity to the present the film that he wanted to make.

Snyder had planned to introduce the Green Lantern John Stewart, and had cast Wayne T. Carr (The Tragedy of Macbeth) in the role. But Warner Bros., who were developing their own Green Lantern projects, pulled the plug on the character. Snyder said, “We shot a version of this scene with Green Lantern, but the studio really fought me and said, ‘We really don’t want you to do Green Lantern,’” Snyder said. “So I made a deal with them, and they let me do this [instead].” Snyder filmed a brief scenes on greenscreen in his driveway, sharing it on Vero.

Fans have since campaigned to #RestoretheGreenLanternScene, which joins the popular hashtag #RestoretheSnyderverse. And Carr just shared a photo on Twitter of himself in costume as Stewart, with a call to restore the Snyderverse.

The suit (and Carr) look pretty rad as the Green Lantern. Unfortunately, it seems that restoring the Snyderverse is low on Warner Bros. priorities. Still, we thought the same thing about the Snyder Cut, and we all know how that ended. In brightest day, hope springs eternal.
