Over-the-knee boots make any outfit instantly more glam

While spring is almost here, we’re still looking to our winter boots – particularly over the knee boots – to keep us from frostbite’s door on the day’s we feel like braving bare legs. 

Combat boots and platform boots have reigned supreme for a few season in a row now, but so too have the thigh-grazing silhouettes. Look to the influencers and celebrities known for their excellent footwear choices and you’ll see exactly what we mean. 

Once stereotyped as the shoe to be worn solely by the most extrovert dressers (and Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman), thigh-high boots are something we see and wear year after year. Need further evidence that they’re an absolute mainstay? The AW22 catwalks were scattered with the style, just take a look at the runway pics from Courrèges, Dries Van Noten and Saint Laurent to name a few.

By no means a trend for the faint-hearted, the thigh-high has been spotted on several of our favourite street style stars and celebrities recently, and now we want a few new pairs. Pronto.

The most classic over-the-knee boot style is your suede silhouette à la Amina Muaddi, Gianvito Rossi and Stuart Weitzman. However, if you’re after something in keeping with this season’s penchant for leather then brands like Saint Laurent, Vagabond, ALDO and Mango have you covered.

Brunello Cucinelli’s beige pair are undoubtedly at the top of our list right now, while Kurt Geiger‘s black TELL2 stompers are a timeless classic. For something a little more affordable, RAID’s Rooshi silhouette and ASOS DESIGN’s Kenni style are the answer. 

Whether you layer them beneath flowing midi dresses to give just the occasional glimpse as you walk, with jeans whatever the season for a more casual take, or with mini skirts to emulate the bravest street style stars, it’s really worth considering an over-the-knee boot.
