So which brands do both petite fashion experts rate for petite clothing? Let’s get into it.
“I tend to either opt for brands that I know cater for those with shorter legs (shout-out to H&M) or buy from ‘specialist’ petite edits that know what us short queens need. Personal favourites here include Reformation and Topshop who offer petite ranges that don’t compromise on style. I’m not asking for much, just a pair of trousers that don’t have to be rolled over several times at the waist to prevent a trip hazard – and don’t get me started on the fear of walking down the aisle in an unaltered bridesmaid dress. Thankfully Coast now have us covered when it comes to wedding guest looks,” Harriet continues.
And when it comes to trends, Hattie has some new season advice on what to look for this season “romantic lace looks are also not going anywhere this season and whilst you might think being petite means steering clear of pretty maxi skirts, I’m here to tell you that’s not true. Enter brands like: M&S. Thanks to their length offerings, I can’t wait to style their latest collection with everything this autumn, from tees and trainers to knits to new season boots, I know I’ll make this style work overtime on my petite build.”
So, now we’ve got the expert opinions, before we show you the best petite clothing brands (we’ve actually found 23, by the way) let’s give you a few quick tips on how to find the perfect fit. Harriet suggests, “always look at the product description to see the model’s height, that way you can roughly judge where the item will sit on you,” and Hattie adds, “make sure to look at the reviews, often petite girls love to share their height and if it was too short or long on them so trust the people who have already ordered.”

The best petite clothing brands, according to editors who actually wear them…
A fresh launch a few years back, I was beyond thrilled that Whistles decided to bring its contemporary, cool styling to petite women – in sizes 4-20 (yes!) made from considered fabrics. There isn’t a vast range but I’d rather see an excellent edit of pieces – and I’m a huge fan of the outerwear (I have this leather jacket and can confirm it’s incredible). I also look to the well-fitting tailoring you can wear to the office, and yes this sleek pinstripe blazer also has petite length trousers to transform into a suit.
A go-to when I want looks that feel effortlessly put together, the Reiss’s Petite offering – which is designed for women under 5’3″ – just never fails to impress. In sizes 4-16, there’s just nothing quite like the quality you get from the tailoring at the high street hero. And with shorter people in mind, there’s something even better about buying suiting that you know will fit without a seamstress needed after you’ve bought it. But it’s not just tailoring they’re doing really well, coats, jackets (I love this fuzzy style) and occasion is what I always rely on Reiss for. Just look at this navy maxi dress, I can see it being worn for party season with stacks of gold or silver jewels.
