Chances are you already own a pair of wide-leg trousers, but a really good pair – i.e. the best wide-leg trousers of all time – are harder to come by.
Yep, there’s a difference, and with thousands of different styles out there, from cotton and wool trousers to high waist and laid-back pairs, it can be a big task to know which one to actually add to your collection. But as a hero piece in any capsule wardrobe, it’s only fair we take the job seriously, which is why I’ve taken it upon myself to show you the exact wide-leg trousers team Glamour wears on heavy rotation for work, weekend errand runs and everything else in-between. Versatility is key with these.
SKIP TO:
The truth is, if I’m not wearing jeans, I’m wearing a pair of the wide-leg pants. And after years of trying on every trouser style under the sun, nothing else compares to the loose-fit pairs that worn across all seasons, for all events, at all times. They’re inherently more relaxed than tapered, straight leg or slim fit styles and therefore seen as something casual – they’re the sartorial equivalent to a pair of joggers, which is probably why they’re so popular – but add a blazer and a pair of kitten heels or a good quality jumper and loafers and and tell me you don’t feel polished and ready to take on the world…I’ll wait.
While wide-leg trousers are a mainstay in fashion editor’s wardrobes no matter the season, year or decade, you only have to look at the autumn/winter 2026 runways to see how they’re actually a major trend this season. Karoline Vitto and Roberto Cavalli went for low-slung extra voluminous pairs, meanwhile, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Officine Generale and Fendi kept workwear-ready with pairs fit for the boardroom.
