Netflix is working on a new documentary about the family made famous by Jon & Kate Plus 8!
The streaming service announced on Wednesday (October 21) that production is underway on a documentary film exploring the Gosselin family and what happened after their years in the reality TV spotlight.
The project will feature interviews with Jon Gosselin and two of his children, Collin Gosselin and Hannah Gosselin.
The announcement comes amid renewed attention surrounding the family following the release of Collin‘s memoir earlier this month.
Which Gosselin Family Members Are Participating in the Netflix Documentary?
According to Netflix’s official announcement, Jon, Collin and Hannah are confirmed to be interviewed for the upcoming film.
It’s not yet known whether Kate Gosselin or the couple’s other six children will participate.
Netflix has not announced additional interview subjects, so their involvement remains unconfirmed.
The documentary will revisit the family’s experiences on Jon & Kate Plus 8, which followed Jon and Kate as they raised their eight children.
The former couple are parents to twins Mady and Cara, as well as sextuplets Alexis, Hannah, Aaden, Collin, Leah and Joel.
The TLC series became a reality TV hit before Jon and Kate divorced in 2009. The show was subsequently renamed Kate Plus 8.
Netflix says the new documentary will examine the different accounts that have emerged from family members about their childhoods and lives in the public eye.
The Documentary Comes After Collin Gosselin’s Memoir
The announcement follows the October 13 release of Collin‘s memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood.
In the book, the 22-year-old made serious allegations about his upbringing and his treatment by his mother.
Kate has denied the allegations and defended her parenting decisions, including her decision to place Collin in a behavioral health facility when he was younger.
Jon also recently spoke out in support of his son’s memoir and criticized his ex-wife’s response.
