Lit girl fashion is taking over this summer – and it all starts with a good read

But it’s not just happening within the ateliers of the world’s best fashion houses. The celebs are getting in on the action, too. How could we forget Dua Lipa, who’s just expanded her longstanding Service95 Book Club to this year’s London Literature Festival, where she’ll interview esteemed authors such as Zadie Smith and Patti Smith? Or Kaia Gerber, who set up Library Science with her friend Alyssa Reeder to help “get people reading”? Then there’s Dakota Johnson, Reese Witherspoon, Laufey and Oprah, who’ve all expended their typical celeb remit to share their favourite reads with fans. Against the rise of #BookTok and a growing appetite to, you know, touch grass and think for ourselves, reading has become a sleeper fashion trend that actually prioritises doing good over looking good.

The most bookish brands in fashion right now

Still, it doesn’t hurt to dress the part. Not in, like, a larp-y way, but in a “I’m an avid lover of books and fabulous clothes” sort of way. Because if there’s anything this new wave of lit girl fashion proves, it’s that the best-dressed woman is usually a well-read woman. And thankfully, the fashion world have given us the perfect jumping-off point. Want to get in on the 2026’s great book club revival? These are the brands to have on your radar.
