Eddie Vedder and Markéta Irglová Sing Together at Glen Hansard’s Funeral

Glen Hansard was memorialized at a funeral held in Dublin on Tuesday. During the ceremony, Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder joined Hansard’s Swell Season collaborator Markéta Irglová and members of The Frames for a performance of “The Song of Good Hope” in tribute to the late musician.

Vedder and Hansard collaborated frequently for more than 15 years. In addition to regularly opening for Vedder, Hansard contributed to Vedder’s second solo album, 2011’s Ukulele Songs, as well as the soundtrack to the 2021 film Flag Day. Hansard was also a member of Vedder’s backing band, The Earthlings, which accompanied him on tour in 2022.

Hansard was also close to Vedder’s daughter, Olivia, referring to him as “an uncle, collaborator, friend, bonus dad, and favorite singer.”
