If I were to ask you how to style a denim dress, your mind might still go straight to a cowboy hat and a Beyoncé concert. Compared with jeans, jackets or even jorts, the denim dress carries a far more obvious Western streak, which can make it feel slightly harder to wear without looking as though you have committed to a theme.
Luckily, it comes into its own in summer. Whether you lean towards a strapless mini or something with a bit more volume and a cinched waist, most denim dresses require very little in the way of actual outfit planning. The trick is to think of it less as a complete look and more as you would your favourite pair of jeans: a reliable base that changes depending on what you put around it.

That said, it’s also surprisingly easy to miss the mark. Go too literal and you’re suddenly in full Western territory; play it too safe and it can feel a bit plain. This season, swap anything heavy for lighter layers, bring in sleek sandals or polished flats, and keep the overall look feeling easy but pulled together.
