AMC+ Buys Kill Jackie, The Catherine Zeta-Jones Thriller Series

Catherine Zeta-Jones thriller Kill Jackie is heading to AMC+.

AMC’s streamer has landed exclusive rights to the show, which is an adaptation of Aidan Truhen’s “gonzo thriller” The Price You Pay and stars Zeta-Jones opposite the likes of The Gentlemen star Daniel Ings. Kill Jackie, which is also exec produced by Oscar-winner Zeta-Jones, will launch in the fall.

In Kill Jackie, which airs on Prime Video in several European territories and Canada while Fremantle sells around the world, Zeta-Jones is Jackie Price, who has lived a wealthy, luxurious existence for the last 20 years – travelling the world, selling fine art using sophisticated tax loopholes and, above all, trying to stay anonymous after escaping a dangerous past as an international cocaine dealer. But just as life starts to feel a little boring, it takes a sudden lethal turn when she discovers The Seven Demons, a squad of the world’s most terrifying hitmen, have been hired to kill her.

The series is a gender swap from the novel, whose lead is called Jack Price. It comes from Gangs of London scribe Tom Butterworth and Conor Keane (North Sea Connection) and is directed by Damon Thomas, whose credits include Killing Eve.

Kill Jackie is a standout addition to AMC+’s curated slate of premium scripted content, and a great example of the bold, character-driven storytelling for which we are known,” said Dan McDermott, Chief Content Officer of AMC Global Media and President of AMC Studios. “Catherine Zeta-Jones commands the screen with a magnetic leading performance, and we’re thrilled to be working with her and the entire producing team to bring this daring, dark, comedic thriller to U.S. audiences.”

Steel Springs Pictures is co-producer and sells the show in the U.S. Steel Springs founder Peter Lawson and Lorenzo De Maio of De Maio Entertainment negotiated the deal with AMC+ and co-manage U.S. sales, while Fremantle handles sales in all other territories. José Luis Escolar’s Deabru Kalea Filmeak supervized production in Bizkaia, Spain. The book rights deal was handled by the Curtis Brown Media Rights Team on behalf of Patrick Walsh at PEW Literary.
