Will Trent’s Most Emotional Team Moments, From Laughs to Gut Punches

Tuesdays aren’t the same without the GBI, APD, and the loveable Betty.

I miss Will Trent greatly, and one of the main reasons is the wonderful team rapport.

There are many procedurals on television, but Will Trent won our hearts because of how the team interacted.

The journey wasn’t automatic or easy. In fact, during Will Trent Season 1, the GBI and APD were often kept separate in different storylines, and Will and Ormewood couldn’t stand each other.

Over time, the core group became like family, making us laugh and cry along with them.

It was challenging to narrow down the best team moments on Will Trent, but here are the team moments that defined them and warmed our hearts.

You Can’t Have a Stakeout Without Takeout – Will Trent Season 1 Episode 13

(ABC/Screenshot)

I love how Ormewood balanced Will out on Will Trent Season 1 Episode 13.

While the men started off as bitter rivals, they’d mellowed by the finale, and all anyone cared about was saving Angie from James Ulster and his goons.

Will seemed so serious, but Ormewood ordered them food on their stakeout while they watched Butch.

He insisted every stakeout needed one, but then admitted they needed their strength to find Angie, and he missed her, too.

It was a very honest reveal, and I treasured seeing the men and Faith working together for the first time.

The GBI & APD Becomes a Family – Will Trent Season 2 Episode 6

Will Trent Season 2 Episode 6 was the first episode in which the combined teams felt like a “found family.”

Part of that was thanks to Ormewood’s daughter, Coop, who missed normalcy and began by inviting Angie over for dinner, which evolved into a team potluck.

Will was still nervous about introducing his Uncle, Antonio, to the larger group, while Faith hesitated to bring Luke since Amanda didn’t approve.

Nevertheless, everyone showed up to support Ormewood and Coop, who needed extra attention through her parents’ divorce.

It seemed like such a pivotal moment, especially since Will finally brought his work family and his biological family together.

Will Trent has always been about the family you choose.

The Team Re-enacts A Murder Mystery – Will Trent Season 3 Episode 3

( Zac Popik/Disney)

I’ve been to murder mystery dinners, and Will Trent Season 3 Episode 3 seemed like one.

Faith spoke the truth when she described the Sorvano family drama as a soap opera, so determining which family member was to blame was key.

I loved Will’s unusual idea, and watching the team re-enact the Sorvano business meeting to learn the actual target was enlightening.

Usually, when the APD and GBI worked together, it was to solve a serious case, so this had a different dynamic.

It was one of the first times in the series we’d seen Franklin‘s humor. He brought something smart and witty to his assigned role.

He really got into it, as did Caroline, and the team thought that they’d solved the case since Franklin and Caroline showed that assistants would do anything to help their boss.

The Floor is Lava Provided Awkward Entertainment – Will Trent Season 3 Episode 4

(ABC/Screenshot)

Will Trent Season 3 Episode 4 was the first case Angie and Will worked since she returned from probation.

It was awkward, especially as almost everyone was ignoring the elephant in the room – it had been Will’s fault. Ormewood was still mad at Will, but Faith wanted to focus on the case.

Since the suspect left footprints on the floor, the team kept leapfrogging from one piece of furniture to another to observe the room. Faith called it the “Floor is Lava.”

It was entertaining to watch how uncoordinated Ormewood was while jumping, or how disgruntled Angie was that the rest of the team had laser pointers.

Will had difficulty discerning clues from the loudness of his teammates’ arguments about the suspect’s footprints and hair patterns.

They were lucky she left behind a driver’s license, which shocked them all.

An Archery Team and Will Saved the Day – Will Trent Season 3 Episode 18

(ABC/Screenshot)

It wasn’t often that we witnessed outsiders assist with missions, but the girls’ archery team was entertaining and helpful on Will Trent Season 3 Episode 18.

Even though they bickered, the girls wanted to help, partly because they thought Ormewood was hot. They were eager to impress him by proving their worth and shooting flaming arrows and nuking the enemy truck, like a young Katniss Everdeen.

Unfortunately, that only angered the terrorists more, and Ormewood’s protective mood activated.

Ormewood was ready to sacrifice himself to the gunman and die a hero, a moment that was lightened up slightly when Franklin realized Ormewood and Faith had named the tumor.

Ormewood wanted his children to be proud of him, but I’m relieved he didn’t die. Will showed up just in time and hit the gunman with his car. That moment cemented their friendship as they hugged in relief.

The Guys’ Heroic Elevator Takedown – Will Trent Season 4 Episode 14

(ABC/Screenshot)

Sometimes, we forget that Ormewood has many other skills besides his muscles. He figured out O’ Cyrus was in the hospital as a mole and suspected he was in that elevator with Will and Seth.

Ormewood was worried that the man would kill an injured teenager and hurt his friends, so he went into action on Will Trent Season 4 Episode 14.

Luckily, Will also knew how to fight since he’d been picked on as a teen, and his moves surprised Seth, who had never seen him in action. Who knew a stethoscope was such a handy weapon, or that the doctor could hand out some punches?

While Will and Seth were holding on, it was entertaining to watch Ormewood step on the elevator like the Incredible Hulk, ready to help his Avengers do battle.

There’s nothing more satisfying than to take out the bad guy and read him his rights, but it took both Will and Ormewood to take him out.

Both Ormewood and Will were exhausted, and it was the perfect ending watching Will throw his show to restart the elevator.

The APD Chases Ulster’s Ex – Will Trent Season 4 Episode 1

(ABC/Screenshot)

I love Angie, Ormewood, and Franklin’s connection, and this scene wrapped up the best part of their friendship on Will Trent Season 4 Episode 1.

They were supportive of Ormewood’s recovery, celebrated Angie’s engagement, and laughed as the trio watched two women physically fight over James Ulster. It was magical entertainment.

It was hilarious that Franklin noticed Angie’s ring as they were snacking on the stakeout. She seemed happy, but she wanted to be cautious about informing Will since they were supposed to be forever.

What could have been a melancholy conversation about regrets became humorous when Janice Theresa and the other fiancée showed up.

The APD couldn’t believe that two women wanted to marry a serial killer, and they had a front-row seat to an entertaining and vicious cat fight that landed on Franklin’s car.

It was just what Ormewood needed to cheer him up on his chemotherapy nausea day.

Will’s Drunken Dance Hallucination – Will Trent Season 3 Episode 13

(Daniel Delgado Jr/ Disney)

Almost every Will Trent fan loves this scene because Will doesn’t usually loosen up and hit the dance floor. Those must have been some powerful drugs he was given on Will Trent Season 3 Episode 13.

Will’s drunken hallucination was so well choreographed that the entire team danced to Donna Summer’s “Last Dance.” I’m not giving up on my dream to have a Will Trent castmate appear on Dancing With the Stars.

Everything from the costumes to the lighting was perfectly paired with the fluorescent disco vibe. Will was so high that he was so happy to see all his friends, and he confessed that he still loved Angie.

It was entertaining to watch him dance with a talking Betty and to see him reunite with his friends.

Dreams always resemble our greatest fears and desires, and Will wanted to feel special. Seeing how far his team went to rescue him showed him they truly cared about him.

A Final Goodbye for Amanda – Will Trent Season 4 Episode 16

(Disney/Wilford Harewood)

We couldn’t leave off the moment when the entire team arrived at the scene. It broke my heart as Will kissed Amanda for the final time on Will Trent Season 4 Episode 16.

It showed how the team loved each other as Franklin and Ormewood comforted Faith, while Angie kept an eye on Will.

Everyone loved Amanda, but they knew it affected Will and Faith the most.

It reminded me of a funeral, as everyone helped Will lift Amanda’s body and the captain began reciting “The Lord is My Shepherd.”

They looked so lost, and every one of them would need strength to get through the loss of Amanda. That moment reset the series, and our team would have to depend on each other even more.

(ABC/Screenshot)

I’m still getting used to the new normal, but I love these characters, so hopefully they’ll bring us more laughter and tears when Will Trent returns in January 2027.
