‘Invincible’ Season 6 Coming To Prime Video From Robert Kirkman

EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video’s Invincible has been renewed for a sixth season.

Robert Kirkman’s hit graphic novel adaptation starring JK Simmons, Sandra Oh and Steven Yeun has been greenlit for a sixth season with the fifth still months from airing. Season 4 has just wrapped and was the most-watched to date, according to Kirkman’s Invincible producer Skybound Entertainment, hitting the top 10 in more than 50 territories.

Invincible follows teenager Mark Grayson, a human-alien hybrid who becomes a crime-fighting superhero known as “Invincible” under the guidance of his father, Nolan / Omni-Man.

Created in 2003 by Kirkman and Cory Walker, and joined later by contributing creator Ryan Ottley, the award-winning Invincible comic series ran for 15 years in collaboration with Image Comics, spanning 146 issues and selling more than 6 million copies.

Season 5 will air next year and Kirkman revealed today that Jack Quaid will join the voice cast. The crowd at the Annecy International Animation Festival were treated to an in-room exclusive clip of his character and a first-look image, which can be seen below.

The TV show has been a huge hit for Prime Video and has also generated plenty social buzz, with more than 7 billion views on TikTok, according to Skybound.

Kirkman made the announcement at the Annecy International Animation Festival, where he also held a masterclass. During the masterclass, he revealed he was many years ago working on an Invincible movie script, which he said was “absolutely horrible” and never got made.

In the end, things clearly worked out OK for Invincible.

“One of the biggest rewards of building Invincible over the years has been witnessing how new audiences continue to connect with these characters and this world, almost 25 years after its creation,” said Kirkman. “This renewal is as much a testament to the passion of our fans as it is to the talented teams bringing the series to life, including longtime supervising directors Shaun O’Neill and Dan Duncan, who have done so much behind the scenes to make Invincible a success, and will now help us continue to grow as executive producers. There’s still so much story left to tell, and I can’t wait for fans to see what’s ahead in seasons 5, 6 and beyond.”
