‘Hope’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere Photos

The Cannes Film Festival hosted the world premiere of Hope, the latest film from director  Na Hong-Jin.

Hong-Jin was joined by the stars of the film, including Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russel, Go Soo, Hwang Jeong-min, and Hoyeon Jung, who all walked the red carpet at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on Saturday, May 16.

The film centers around the isolated village of Hope, which is left entirely defenseless after communications are severed and all reinforcements are diverted to battle raging wildfires. At the heart of the story are police outpost chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae, who desperately struggle to protect the town’s vulnerable elderly residents. Simultaneously, the narrative follows Sung-ki and a group of locals who venture into the treacherous mountains to track a mysterious beast, only to realize they are the ones being hunted. What begins as ignorance plants the seed of disaster, which, through human conflict, escalates into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.
