EXCLUSIVE: Taskmaster’s international rollout is continuing apace, with a local version greenlit by Polish broadcaster TVN. Warner Bros. Discovery-owned TVN’s version of the hit comedy-entertainment format will be produced by Avalon and Constantin. The news comes as several new international Taskmaster series have just launched, with more to come through 2026.
The format has an all-powerful ‘Taskmaster’ who, with the help of a loyal assistant, tests the wiles of a panel of comedians over the course of each series by setting them weird and wonderful challenges.
Alex Horne created the show and is a host on the long-running UK version alongside comedian Greg Davies. “I think this has got a bit out of control, to be honest,” he said as news of the latest international deal dropped. “But I am still thrilled that the people of Poland are finally going to see their top comedians casting dignity to one side as they strive to impress the Polish version of Greg Davies.”
There is wind in the Taskmaster sails internationally. The Poland news comes after Swedish commercial network TV4 greenlit two more seasons, with Avalon and Fremantle producing what will be their fourteenth and fifteenth seasons of the show. WBD in Norway has also renewed its deal and is making more Taskmaster locally, with Nordisk producing alongside Avalon. The Norwegian version won the local TV Academy Award (Gullruten) for Best Comedy Show in 2024.
Iceland and Estonia launched their own takes on the format last month on Syn and TV3 respectively. Elsewhere, a Dutch Taskmaster will bow on RTL later this year. The TVN deal will take the total number of countries that have their own version to fourteen.
Avalon sells the show around the world as well as producing it. “We’re thrilled to be partnering with TVN and Constantin to bring Taskmaster to Poland,” said Paula Warwick, Head of Distribution at Avalon. “The strength of the format and its ability to deliver guaranteed comedy have driven its dedicated global following, and we can’t wait to bring it to Polish audiences. With more territories coming on board this year, its global expansion shows no signs of slowing.”
