Jessica Biel & Her Iron Ocean Banner Sign With UTA

EXCLUSIVE: UTA has signed Jessica Biel, the Emmy-nominated actor and producer most recently making a splash with acclaimed crime dramas Candy and The Sinner, as well as her production company, Iron Ocean, for representation in all areas.

Most recently, Biel portrayed infamous axe murderer Candy Montgomery in Hulu’s true crime limited series Candy, earning a Hollywood Critics Association TV Award nomination for her work. She prior to that drew rave reviews for her turn in Season 1 of USA Network’s crime mystery The Sinner, along with Emmy, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice Award nominations for Best Actress, and other nominations for her role as executive producer.

On the TV front, Biel has additionally been seen starring opposite Stanley Tucci in Facebook Watch’s drama Limetown, based on the same-name podcast. To date, she’s also seen her films rack up over $800M at the global box office. Notable credits there include Hitchcock, The Illusionist, New Year’s Eve, Valentine’s Day, and The A-Team.

Biel and her producing partner, Michelle Purple, formed production company Iron Ocean in 2007 with a mission to tell powerful stories that enhance female voices for all audiences, across TV, film, documentary series, reality series and podcasts. Most recently, Iron Ocean produced Freeform’s Cruel Summer, which set ratings records for the network in both of its two seasons and won Best Cable Drama Series from the Hollywood Critics Association. The teen drama’s Season 2 trailer also notably made a splash to become one of the most watched in Freeform’s history.

Through Iron Ocean, Biel and Purple also both served as EPs on Candy, which had the best debut of any Hulu title since the fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale hit the platform in May 2021. The company expanded into podcasting in July 2023 with the Audible exclusive series The Lost Olympians, which was produced in partnership with ATTN, and featured Biel as an introductory narrator. Other previous projects include The Sinner; the film The Book of Love starring Biel, Jason Sudeikis and Maisie Williams; and Facebook Watch’s Limetown, which premiered in 2019 to over 10 million viewers in its first 72 hours.
