‘Supergirl’: ‘House Of The Dragon’s Milly Alcock Was “First Person” James Gunn Brought Up For DC Role

In the wake of the Supergirl casting news yesterday that we told you about first, with House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock nabbing the coveted role, DC co-boss James Gunn continued to beam Tuesday.

“In case you missed this exciting news yesterday. Strangely, Milly was the FIRST person I brought up to Peter (Safran) for this role, well over a year ago, when I had only read the comics,” Gunn posted on Threads.

“I was watching House of the Dragon & thought she might have the edge, grace & authenticity we needed for the DCU’s Supergirl. And now here we are. Life is wild sometimes,” the Guardians of the Galaxy architect continued.

Alcock beat out DC’s Supergirl voice-over actress Meg Donnelly for the role, as well as CODA‘s Emilia Jones. Alcock’s Supergirl will appear in a DC-based project before headlining her own movie, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, based on Tom King’s 2022 comic book. No director has been selected for that project, though an autumn start for the movie is being eyed.

Gunn’s second DC directed feature, Superman: Legacy, goes before the cameras in March in Georgia.
