With 4A Games’ Metro: Last Light turning the big 1-0 earlier this week (Neil and Jay covered the game on the Safe Room Podcast last week), the developer has decided to give those of you who still haven’t jumped into the Moscow Metro a chance to do so for free. That’s right, Metro: Last Light will be available for free for a limited time on Steam.
The official Twitter account for the Metro series posted the announcement earlier today that from May 18 to May 25, players can grab the original Complete Edition of Metro: Last Light on Steam. As you might expect, the Complete Edition includes the base game, as well as all of the DLC. Just to be clear, this is not the same version as Metro: Last Light Redux, which is a remastered version of Last Light that was released back in 2014.
Taking place one year after the events of Metro 2033, the remnants of mankind are besieged by deadly threats from outside – and within. Mutants stalk the catacombs beneath the desolate surface, and hunt amidst the poisoned skies above. But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever. As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to humanity’s survival.
Immerse yourself in the year 2034 – you are the last light in the darkest hour.
To celebrate Metro: Last Light’s 10th Anniversary, the original Complete Edition of the 2013 game will be available for free on @Steam from 18-25 May.
