Henry Winkler-Starring Comedy-Drama ‘Chanshi’ Unveils Trailer & Will Feature At Sundance

EXCLUSIVE: Israel’s Hot has unveiled the trailer for Chanshi, the Henry Winkler-starring Israeli/U.S. crossover comedy-drama that will premiere at Sundance.

Written, created by and starring up-and-comer Aleeza Chanowitz, Chanshi stars Winkler and Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Caroline Aaron as Chanshi’s father and stepmother. Chanowitz plays the titular role, a young religious girl from the Jewish community in Brooklyn who decides, just before her wedding and despite her family’s objections, to abandon everything familiar to her and immigrate to Israel.

Also starring in the series are Marnina Schon (Dollface), Tomer Machloof (Tehran), Lee Bader (Super Lady), Oshri Cohen (McMafia), Daniel Moreshet (The Big Nothing), Michal Birnbaum (Unorthodox), Roy Miller (Superdaddy) and Roni Dalumi (Euphoria) and Dor Gvirtsmam.

Chanshi will premiere in the Indie Episode program at Sundance 2023 and the show is currently being shopped to U.S. and international buyers.

“Aleeza is an incredible talent and in her brilliant bold and funny script that traverses New York and Jerusalem, it seems absolutely fitting that Sundance is where we premiere this crossover comedy,” said a spokesperson for Hot.

Happy Days star Winkler’s role in the show was supported by Scripted Israel, a year-round initiative aimed at promoting the Israeli content industry on the global stage.
