Cosmoss, Kate Moss’s new wellness brand, wants to modernise self-care

Kate Moss is getting her Goop on with Cosmoss, her new wellness brand providing “self-care created for life’s modern journeys”, launching on 1st September. With the exact details still largely under wraps, Cosmoss promises to draw on the British supermodel and pop culture icon’s “extraordinary life experience”.

We know what you might be thinking here. Kate Moss isn’t exactly the first name that springs to mind when you think of wellness. After all, she was one of the original 90s party girls, known for wild nights out and decades of good times. Even as recently as this year, she’s become the UK’s creative director of Diet Coke, which is seen by some as the antithesis of a green juice. At the press event,  she made headlines for jokingly stating she’s “always loved Coke”. Ahem.

Yet, maybe this departure from perfectionism is exactly what the wellness world needs in order for it to be more accessible. In a similar way TikTok rejected the “clean girl aesthetic” for its unrealistic standards, is Kate Moss reinventing wellness to appeal to the multi-faceted nature of modern life?

Kate herself has a longstanding relationship with traditional wellness practices: she’s open about her love of yoga having been tutored by Nadia Narain, a celebrated yoga teacher and she regularly visits TheLifeCo Bodrum, a wellbeing and detox retreat. Plus, Cosmoss’s Instagram page shows the supermodel wading naked through a tranquil lake, suggesting she’s also a fan of wild swimming.  Then, on the flipside, the Instagram page also features an array of blurry imagery of Kate dancing, evocative of a trancey nightclub scene, with the caption stating that Kate is “ready to share her journey of self- acceptance and freely be herself”.

As for what Cosmoss will actually offer to customers, there’s a hint on the brand’s social media that it includes a scent, as well as products which have been “meticulously crafted with well-being in mind, using potent, natural substances” (CBD anyone?). And that it promises to offer a ritual that “opens a door to balance, restoration and love”. Sign us up.
