Marvel Video Imagines Eternals Asking Iron Man For Help

An MCU fan imagines Iron Man surviving Avengers: Endgame and teaming up with the Eternals during the Emergence. Robert Downey Jr. wrapped up his foundational run as Tony Stark in the 2019 Joe and Anthony Russo-directed Endgame. Despite the poetic, albeit tragic way his story finished, many have continued to imagine what Phase 4 would look like had he lived, including the creator of this new clip.

Debuting in Jon Favreau’s Iron Man film in 2008, Downey had been the poster boy for the MCU throughout its first three phases. The actor played the role 10 times before capping it off in Avengers: Endgame. But while the franchise no longer physically features him, his legacy still has a significant impact in some of Marvel Studios’ recent projects such as WandaVision and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. In other instances, he’s even directly referenced like in Chloé Zhao’s Eternals. But a fan visualizes what it would’ve been like if he was given the chance to actually meet the cosmic beings.

Using footage from the movie, the genius, billionaire lives in his cabin with his family a year after the time heist, altering his fate from the official timeline. And just before he and Morgan (Lexi Rabe) enter their home, the Eternals show up just as they were gearing up for the Emergence. Watch the clip below:

Assuming that Iron Man did survive the snap in Avengers: Endgame, it isn’t outside the realm of possibility that the Eternals actually seek his help. Zhao’s film confirmed that the near-immortal beings are aware of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ adventures and even discuss them. This would’ve solved questions about why the Avengers didn’t factor into the events of Eternals, especially since it involved the potential destruction of Earth. Reaching out to Iron Man in the hopes of getting help would also be a smart move considering that Tony could easily connect to his old teammates, if he’s already fully retired, to coordinate with the Eternals.

As cool as this idea is, it also proves why fully walking away from being a hero wasn’t an option with regard to writing Iron Man out of the MCU. Considering how involved he was with the Avengers Initiative, recruiting Iron Man‘s help during any looming catastrophe would be inevitable. And given his strong commitment to protecting Earth, he would likely still choose to participate in dangerous missions, even after Avengers: Endgame. That includes teaming up with the Eternals to stop the Emergence.
