Green liquid eyeliner is the unexpected go-to eye makeup trend for festive season

Green liquid eyeliner: it may sound terrifying, but this is a look that will make you stand out for all the right reasons, and is actually way more flattering than it sounds (trust us).

It’s that time of year again when the Christmas party invites are likely pouring in, whether it’s the office shindig, or ones planned by friends and family. And as we cross our fingers that nothing will impact our celebrations this year (good riddance, Christmas 2020), we also look to new and exciting ways to play with makeup to mark the season, such as this experimental, bold green trend.

Not quite convinced? Maybe the fact that both Kendall Jenner and Dua Lipa are fans of the look may sway you. Dua’s look in particular blew us away, presented back in September as she walked the runway for Versace’s 2022 show. Makeup artists perfected the two-tone double liner look on Lipa (which Vogue has tapped as the chicest liner trend of the moment, BTW) using aquamarine blue and eye-catching lime green.

Jenner wore hers back in 2018 for NYE, proving the look is most definitely a magical choice to ring in the new year with style and fearlessness.

The supermodel combined her eye-popping liner with a matching lime green top, oversized green earrings, and some fantastic hi-shine trousers.

If you need proof that the look has had a recent revival since Jenner’s jaw-dropping moment, simply look to Pretty Little Liars alumni Lucy Hale, who was spotted wearing ‘glow in the dark’ neon green liner on makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan Fisher’s Instagram feed.

Chances are, all this may have convinced you that green liquid eyeliner is the way to go this Christmas and NYE, so how exactly do you rock it? Well, our advice is to keep everything else pretty simple; you want the liner to do allll the talking. Simply pair with fresh glossy skin, a nude lip, and lashings of mascara.

There are plenty of great product choices to try out too. Both Rimmel and Dior do liquid green liners, both of which are more of a muted green, which is ideal if you’re not quite ready for the neon look just yet.

If you fancy going all out, we’d recommend picking up some of Suva Beauty’s Hydra FX cake liner in ‘Fanny Pack,’ which is a bold neon green that glows in the dark. You’ll need to pick up an angled liner brush (the ones designed for brows are best, in our humble opinion) to use the product with, but all in all it’s certain to look pretty incredible for a special occasion!
